Student Transfer

The Hayward Unified School District (HUSD) offers families choices to help them select the school that is right for their student. HUSD boasts a wide variety of language, art, career, and college programs to meet the needs and interests of our students. Please see below to learn more about the different options parents have and the various guidelines and limitations associated with each choice. While the District offices are physically closed to the public for safety reasons due to COVID-19, our staff continue to serve the community virtually.

2021-22 Transfer Requests

2021-22 Open Enrollment Transfers
  • Open Enrollment is the parent choice option available for families in the Hayward Unified School District who want their children to attend a different HUSD school. Some schools may not have space available in the program or grade level requested. A random, unbiased lottery will be used when there are more requests than there are spaces available. The transfer is valid for the duration of the student’s enrollment at the approved school.
