State Superintendent of Public Instruction Visits HUSD

We were honored to have state Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond and Assemblymember Liz Ortega visit Burbank Elementary recently. The two visited Maria Elena Villasenor’s TK class and Ann Kristine Rubio’s pre-school class, reading to both groups of students. Supt. Thurmond was gracious with his time, chatting with the students, as well as school and district staff and school board members who joined for the visit.

Several news outlets showed up to capture the event. Afterward, California Department of Education staff members visited our exceptional early learning programs at Eden Gardens and Lorin Eden.
