YEP I Make A Difference Award

October 2019

Raymond Marinelli

Operations Supervisor

Strobridge Elementary YEP

1. Safe and supportive environment: The program provides a safe and nurturing environment that supports the developmental, social-emotional and physical needs of all students.

Ray strives to continue to uplift his students and his staff through his kind and nurturing manner. He has established a Mindful Space, intended to help students understand their emotions in healthy ways, and keep stress and anxiety levels down.

10. Continuous quality improvement: The program uses data from multiple sources to assess its strengths and weaknesses in order to continuously improve program design, outcomes, and impact.

Ray has introduced the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process to the Strobridge Elementary staff by using the Quality Standards as part of their team meetings to assess and provide feedback around the improvement areas that exist in the program.

The “I Make a Difference” Award aims to recognize exemplary work towards creating and providing quality experiences for students in YEP programs. It is grounded in the Quality Standards for Expanded Learning Programs established by the California Department of Education.

Each month, from October to May, YEP Management will select a Site Lead, Program Leader, or a site team for the “I Make a Difference Award for demonstrating exemplary practices in Expanded Learning Program Quality Standards.
