The Hayward Unified School District Board of Education has approved an agreement with its labor partners on a retroactive compensation adjustment as of July 1, 2021.
The agreement, approved by the board on a 5-0 vote, applies to the following associations: the Hayward Education Association (HEA), the Association of Educational Office and Technical Employees (AEOTE), Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1021, and Association of California School Administrators (ACSA)
The agreement stipulates that represented members receive a seven-percent (7%) salary increase for the 2021-22 school year. HEA membership ratified the agreement on September 2.
Due to the parity (“me too”) provisions for compensation, this increase applies to all other unions and associations.
“I’m grateful that we were able to come to an agreement that fairly compensated our teachers and staff for their extraordinary efforts over the past year,’’ said Board of Education President April Oquenda. “Our teachers and staff care for our children and families, and they deserve our support and appreciation.”
