Hayward Unified School District is proud to announce a significant development in the Measure H Bond Program! On December 8, 2021, The Board of Education approved the contract with Blach Construction Company to construct the much-anticipated Performing Arts Center (PAC).
Initially part of the Measure L Bond program, the project was postponed because of other facilities-related priorities in the District. Now part of the Measure H Bond program, the project is finally in progress! The new PAC will be located on the Mt. Eden High School campus near the corner of Panama St. and Hesperian Blvd.
The PAC will include the main theater with seating for 500 patrons, a smaller multi-use space for performances, classes, and community events, as well as full support spaces for the back of the house.
Blach Construction was selected by a diverse group of stakeholders in Hayward, including members of the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee, the Performing Arts Committee, and the District Administration. Blach Construction, founded in the SF Bay Area in 1970, was chosen because of their long-standing reputation and positive performance in the public school construction field. Blach Construction supports public education and supports local charities across the SF Bay Area and beyond.
The new Performing Arts Center will support high quality programming for schools and the community all across the Hayward region. For more about HUSD’s Visual and Performing Arts programs, click here.
