The Tennyson High School Social Studies Department received a $5,000 Diverse Democracy Grant that has allowed them to organize a series of events in partnership with the League of Women Voters. With this grant, students have organized a voter registration drive and a Mayoral Candidate Forum Luncheon with Mayor Halliday and Councilman Salinas.

On November 6, they will hold a mock student election. Other activities include an art contest to encourage voting, voter registration internships and another voter registration drive in the spring. Our youth are the next generation of leaders, so let's applaud their effort in becoming civically engaged at such a young age.
