The Million Fathers March (MFM) is a powerful nationwide campaign that encourages fathers and father figures to support children’s academic success, well-being, and lifelong dreams.

On Friday, September 19, the Hayward Unified School District warmly invites all fathers, grandfathers, uncles, mentors, and male role models to walk or drive their children to school in a show of unity, love, and commitment.

Research shows that children thrive when fathers or caring male figures are actively involved in their lives. The MFM is more than a one-day event — it’s a movement that invites men to be present and engaged all year long: attending school events, communicating with teachers, and joining community efforts to uplift student success.

For 20 years, the Million Fathers March has stood for presence, pride, and purpose. By simply showing up, you are sending a powerful message:

“I am here. I care. I lead.”

This year’s theme — “Civic Dads in Action: Engaged, Educated, Empowering Communities” — is a call to deepen our connection to schools and communities. It’s a reminder that strong schools are built on strong family partnerships, and those partnerships begin with trust, respect, and the willingness to be involved.

Let’s march together — for our children, our schools, and our future.
