Asian and Pacific Islander Community Initiative

Mission

HUSD’s Asian & Pacific Islander Community Initiative (APICI) celebrates and honors the identity, values, and cultural contributions of Hayward’s diverse Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities. Through this initiative, HUSD seeks to foster pride in cultural heritage, promote cross-cultural awareness, and help preserve unique AANHPI cultural traditions for future generations. The APICI also aims to strengthen AANHPI family and community engagement and unity, and create a safe, supportive school environment that understands, respects, and advocates for the academic and social-emotional needs of all AANHPI students and families.
