Migrant Education Program
Hayward Unified School District's Migrant Education Program (MEP) offers free services to families who have worked in, or have looked for jobs in, Agriculture, Food Processing, Livestock, Fishing, or Packing Flowers, Fruits or Meats. Some of the services offered to our Migrant community are:
- Tutoring
- Migrant Preschool (SIAC)
- Migrant Summer School
- Community Resources
- Parent Health Academies
Migrant Education Speech and Debate Contest
On March 25, 2017, three Tennyson High School students participated in the First Regional Migrant Education Speech and Debate Contest in San Jose, CA. Jose Becerra (first place for his grade), Jazmin Camilo (first place for her grade) and Mitzy Becerra (second place for her grade) were fierce and eloquent in their speeches. They will be going on to the State Migrant Speech and Debate competition on May 5th and 6th, 2017 to represent Tennyson High School and the Hayward Unified School District. In addition, they were invited to the CloseUp program in Washington, DC, June 11-17th.
