Comprehensive School Safety Plans
The Hayward Unified School District recognizes that students and staff have the right to a safe and secure campus where they are free from physical and psychological harm. HUSD is fully committed to maximizing school safety and to creating a positive learning environment that includes strategies for violence prevention and high expectations for student conduct, responsible behavior, and respect for others.
In accordance with state law, each Hayward Unified School District school has developed a Comprehensive School Safety Plan (CSSP) relevant to the needs and resources of that particular school. The plans are reviewed and updated annually. The most recent plan for each school site is available to view by clicking this link.
The Annual Process for Approvals for CSSP is underway. The 2025 - 2026 CSSP Template can be downloaded from below, and be shared with each sites School Site Council and/or Safety Committee. Please review, update, and email an approved updated CSSP to Nimish Singh no later than 11/15/2025. Please access the California Department of Education's Compliance Tool for Comprehensive School Safety Plans to assist you in updating your plan.
The District encourages School Site Council and/or Safety Committee members to review the Statewide Comprehensive School Safety Planning Webinar September 2022 video produced by the California Department of Education on 09/15/2022. Though additional requirements have been added to 2025 - 2026 CSSP Template that may not have been referenced in this video, it is still a good tool to understand the components of an effective CSSP.
